At a delightful local Hong Kong wet market run, we turn to textures of nature for our newest campaign shoot. Ordinary foods become the structural companions to our wearable sculptures, reminding us of the ecosystem of this universe that we exist within. Impeccable textures leave you with more surprises when cut open, creating uniquely fitting canvases for play and exploration.
In the world of language, there are symbols that give voice to words. Quotation marks, those delicate curves, encircle stories and thoughts that must be heard. They are the gatekeepers of direct speech, the sentinels of quotations, and the guardians of meaning.
The CH005 Unspoken Conversation collection was inspired by the medium of our everyday exchanges. We unveiled the collection with a cinematic journey. Through the lens of silent encounters, this shoot delves into the intricate dynamics of human connection. Two strangers navigate a realm where words fade, relying solely on the language of body and expression.
As their paths intertwine, their unspoken bond faces trials that challenge the very essence of silence. Amidst the interplay of solitude and yearning, one character finds solace in spaciousness, while the other confronts the complexities of a cluttered mind. Lingering questions echo, urging a search for deeper understanding.
In this creative exploration, the delicate dance between struggle and surrender unveils the transformative
power of unspoken connections, leaving an indelible impression etched upon the depths of one’s being.
In collaboration with Seoul-based artist Di Jingxian, Le Mandorle explored the concept or unconditionality and beauty found within individuals through a photo series featuring all ages, genders, nationalities and even disabilities. In each set of images, the wearer faces themselves, wearing one real ear cuff and one replica made from real flower sprayed with silver.
To honor the work, Le Mandorle worked with Soho House Hong Kong to deliver an immersive exhibition. Local florist Village Lane installed a Sci-Fi Plant with 28 rear view mirrors growing out of it, symbolizing the 28 models in the campaign. A waterfalled musical chair made with 28 vintages were arranged to invite guests for seating, symbolically stepping into the shoes of the models and experiencing a sense of connection and empathy.
“When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around, so they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.” – Georgia O’Keeffe
Le Mandorle’s CH003 Martian Bloom and CH004 Venutian Floret were an intricate study into the organic design from our natural world. Examining flora anatomy from petals to ovaries, and pedicels to anthers, we reimagined the lively textures and raw patterns from nature’s most impressive designs into floret silouettes.
While founder Tara Lee travelled to Shanghai for her first fashion week showcase, the big lockdown left people trapped within their districts and residents. She took the chance to engage the neighbors within the vicinity to join in on a creative shoot, enlivening the community with doses of joy, experimentation, and something to look forward to. It resulted in a playful set of images that marks a pivoting point for the brand, and a heartwarming sentiment to the collection.
Our signature box and puzzle designs were created during Le Mandorle’s second collection. Taking inspiration from childhood puzzles, we developed necklaces and earrings that are stackable, creating sculptures when unworn, giving them a second life of their own to adorn home spaces as much as the wearer themselves.
Built on architectural principles and beautiful mechanisms, pieces can part and link, giving creative freedom to the wearer to customize their styling everyday. Le Mandorle believes that functionality should be embedded into fashion and daily styling, allowing for flexibility and multiple possibilities.
